Research in an Undersea Habitat
While thousands of climbers have successfully scaled Mount Everest, less than a handful of people have descended to the planet's deepest point, the Mariana Trench. The sea is the Navy's domain. Dr. Joseph Dituri, Ph.D., DMT, CDR - US Navy (ret) enlisted in the Navy. He made his way up through the ranks after earning his B.S. in Computer Science and received his commissioned. Among various billets, he served at Pearl Harbor Naval Shipyard as a Nuclear Project Superintendent, Project Manager, Docking Officer, Diving Officer and Business Operations Officer. He earned a Master’s Degree in Astronautical Engineering from the Naval Post Graduate School. His final position in the US Navy was at Special Operations Command as Special Operations Research Development and Acquisition Center Program Executive Officer - Maritime Systems where he served as the Chief Engineer, Program Manager for Undersea Systems Technical & Certification Program as well as deputy Program Manager for Combat Craft. Upon retirement, he earned a PhD in Biomedical Engineering from the University of South Florida.
